Wisdom Teeth Extractions in Marysville, OH

We are passionate about protecting the oral health of our patients. One of the larger concerns they are able to prevent are complications caused by the eruption of wisdom teeth.  We extract wisdom teeth in our office on a case-by-case basis, however, more severe cases may be referred to an oral surgeon for treatment.

What are Wisdom Teeth?

Most of our adult teeth enter the smile, or erupt, when we are children. The baby teeth that eventually fall out help guide these adult teeth into your smile by maintaining room for them in the jaw.

Wisdom teeth are the exception to the typical routine. This third set of molars comes in while we are teenagers or adults, and they do not replace any existing baby teeth when they erupt. Because baby teeth weren’t holding the space in the jaw, wisdom teeth often push against the other teeth as they enter, which can cause several different oral health concerns. If the teeth fully erupt, they tend to alter the alignment of the smile and make it more challenging to keep your teeth clean. If they do not fully erupt, then they will cause either pericoronitis or tooth impaction; both conditions make extreme tooth decay and the loss of multiple teeth likely to occur.

Some patients might have a jaw large enough for the molars to enter their smile safely, but most people need to have their wisdom teeth removed in order to stay healthy.

The Extraction Procedure

At our dental practice in Marysville, our team of dentists performs teeth extractions as needed, including wisdom teeth. We can remove the third molars from both the top and bottom jaw.

Whenever one of them performs a tooth extraction of any kind, Doctors Guster, Losey, and Mack have their patient’s comfort and security in mind at every step. Before each treatment our practice conducts, they take the time to listen to any concerns or problems a patient may have with the scheduled treatment. They then work to make sure their patients are comfortable throughout the extraction by addressing these concerns and problems directly.
